Sheila Marie Hanzalik

Sheila Hanzalik of Pine City, age 73, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and resilience.

Sheila Marie Larson was born on March 12, 1952, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to S. John and Dolores (Sorenson) Larson.

She graduated from North St. Paul High School in 1970. From a very young age, she developed a love for skiing, spending joyful winters on the slopes with her family. In 1972, she moved to Pine City, where she married Brad Davis. Together they raised three children—Stephanie, Heidi, and Keith. Their home was filled with hunting trips, fishing adventures, camping excursions, and lively card parties that created lasting memories for family and friends.

On December 31, 1997, Sheila married the love of her life, Steven Hanzalik. Together, Sheila and Steve built a beautiful life full of shared passions. They enjoyed attending car shows, camping, gardening, and embracing every festive occasion they could. In retirement, they spent cherished years traveling by RV between Minnesota and Arizona, creating new memories and friendships along the way.

Sheila had a deep love for gardening - so much so that it wasn't just a garden, it was her entire yard. Her flowers bloomed as brightly as her spirit. One of her favorite places in the world was the multicolored glider behind her home, where she would sit for hours watching the birds and admiring her flowers. That glider was her sanctuary.

Sheila also enjoyed occasional trips to the casino to try her luck—usually after a wonderful breakfast with family. She loved watching HGTV, and dreaming up new ideas for home and garden projects. Sheila enjoyed spending extra time with her children and grandchildren.

In 2024, Sheila suffered a stroke, but she faced it with remarkable strength. Even in the face of adversity, she remained resilient, strong-willed, and her wonderfully goofy self, never losing the spark that made her so uniquely Sheila.

Sheila is survived by her devoted husband, Steve Hanzalik of Pine City; her children Stephanie Larson (Dave) of Pine City, Heidi Davis (Paul) of Ham Lake, and Keith (Melissa) Davis of St. James; and her beloved grandchildren Brittanie (Chris), Savannah (Jedediah), Tyler, Nathaniel, and Levi. She is also remembered by many extended family members and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents S. John and Dolores Larson; and former mother-in-law Dolores Davis.

Sheila will be remembered for her stubborn independence, her vibrant gardens, her laughter, goofy smile and the deep love she carried for her family. Her life was rooted in family, joy, and simple pleasures, and her memory will continue to bloom in the hearts of all who knew her.
