Steven Eugene Bartheidel

March 24, 1963 — July 29, 2025

Hinckley

Steve Bartheidel passed away peacefully at his home in Hinckley, Minnesota, on July 29, 2025, with his loved ones by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 62.

Steven Eugene Bartheidel was born March 24, 1963, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Steve was the eldest of three siblings. He graduated from Pine City High School in 1981 and went on to study auto mechanics, a field that perfectly matched his talents and interests.

Steve was a man who could always be found working on something. His lifelong passion was automobiles—he had a natural knack for mechanics and loved to tinker. Whether fixing an engine or offering a helping hand, Steve's dedication and ingenuity were unmatched. Steve was a dedicated and hardworking entrepreneur who operated Steve’s Alignment, earning a reputation for honesty, precision, and quality service. In March 2010, he relocated the business to Hinckley, where he continued to run it with the same commitment to excellence that built his loyal customer base. Steve proudly operated his small business until his retirement in 2024, leaving behind a legacy of craftsmanship and community trust that will be remembered by all who knew him.

In the 80's and '90s, Steve spent many weekends participating in demolition derbies, a pastime he loved for both the adrenaline and the chance to build something tough. He was also an avid off-roader, whether it was mudding, trail riding, four-wheeling, or snowmobiling. Be it tearing through the woods or cruising snowy trails, Steve found peace and excitement in the great outdoors and the roar of an engine.

Steve met the love of his life, Beth, and they were married on July 7, 2007. Their love was strong, steady, and full of shared adventures. During his illness, Beth stood by his side, caring for him with endless love, strength, and compassion through every stage of his journey.

Steve was a father to four children and two step-children, each of whom shared a special place in his heart. Throughout his battle with cancer, Steve was surrounded by the love and support of his family. The care, strength, and steady presence of those closest to him brought him great comfort and meant more than words could express.

Steve's life was a testament to hard work, loyalty, good times, and love. He leaves behind a legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He is lovingly remembered by so many. Steve lived a full and beautiful life—whether he was teaching his children to snowmobile, enjoying weekend BBQs at his brother’s, four-wheeling with his granddaughters at the Johnson farm, heading out on muddy adventures with his daughter, or celebrating holidays and birthdays surrounded by family.

Steve is survived by his loving wife Beth Bartheidel of Hinckley; mother Kathy Bartheidel of Rush City; children Candace (David) Johnson of Pine City, Steven Bartheidel of St. Cloud, Susan Bartheidel of Sandstone, and Larissa Bartheidel of Wisconsin; grandchildren Emily Benzinger (Ian), Kate Benzinger; siblings Jeremy (Gail) Bartheidel of Merkel, Texas, Jody Fluegel of Elk River; many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and great friends.
