Steve Olson of Brooklyn Center passed away Friday, January 5, 2024 at his home at the age of 67.
Steven Craig Olson was born December 26, 1956 to Myron and Audrey (Mell) Olson in Rush City, Minnesota. The youngest of three children, Steve grew up and went to school in Rush City. He graduated in 1975 and was voted "Most Handsome". Steve enjoyed track and football, band and rollerskating in his youth. He excelled in music, mastering the piano, accordion and trumpet and played in several small groups and bands, music being an integral part of his life.
In July 1976, Steve enlisted in the United States Army and after boot camp, he was stationed in Alaska. He was honorably discharged in July 1980. For many years Steve worked as an overhead crane operator, moving large rolls of steel, for Kieler Steel in the Twin Cities. He was known for his volunteerism, particularly following hurricanes and floods; when he and Sue felt the call to lend a hand and provide disaster relief throughout the US.
Steve lived his adult life in the metro area, but always returned home to Rush City for renewal and fellowship.
Steve is survived by nephew Ben Baker of Altoona, Wisconsin; many cousins, other relatives, friends and classmates.
He was preceded in death by his parents Myron and Audrey Olson; sister Patricia Baker; brother Leland "Lee" Olson; nephew Chad Baker.
Services are planned for Spring 2024.
