On the early morning of Saturday, February 17, 2024, Terry Ray Ennen, age 76, of Pine City, Minnesota passed away at his home, surrounded by the love of his family and his dog, Scotter.
Terry was born September 14,1947 to Curtis and Maxine (Brandt) Ennen in Milaca, Minnesota. He grew up in Cove Bay, Minnesota where he attended elementary school. He attended high school and played football at Onamia, Minnesota, graduating in 1965. In December of 1965 Terry enlisted in the United States Navy and served four years during the Vietnam War.
He met the love of his life Karin White at a dancehall called the “Skateland” in Deerwood, Minnesota. They were married on July 29, 1969 in Webster, South Dakota. They made their home in Onamia and in 1974 moved to Pine City. Terry attended Pine Technical College in the automotive department. He worked many jobs including; mechanic, bartending and for the Department of Natural Service as a wildland firefighter/dispatcher. In 2012, he retired after 30 years of employment with the City of Pine City.
Terry had three kids Rhonda, Terry Jr. and Michelle. Even though he was thrilled to be a father he was elated to be a grandfather and was not disappointed when blessed with nine. Terry had many pets throughout his life, none greater than his friend until the very end, Scotter.
Terry’s hobbies included fishing, camping, trapping, snowmobiling, ricing, cutting wood, traveling, garage sales, antiquing and frequenting card shows. He traveled with his family to Canada, South Dakota, Branson and Nashville. Terry’s love for country music was well known and he attended many country music concerts. He especially enjoyed the Grand Ole Opry for his 75th birthday celebration. Terry’s philosophy of life was to enjoy life while you can.
He was a great husband, father, grandfather, and hero. A gentle soul with a great sense of humor, giving advice and a heart of gold. He will be greatly missed.
Terry is survived by his loving wife Karin Ennen of Pine City; children Rhonda (Brian) Larson of Mountain Iron, T.J. Ennen (Beth Abrahamson) of Superior, Michelle (Bill) Volk of Rush City; grandchildren Jeremiah Ennen (fiancée Samantha), Noah Larson, Samuel Larson, Elisha Larson, Elijah Larson, Malachi Ennen, Haeven Ennen, Hailey Volk, Will Volk; sister Janet South, niece Billie Jo Bylund all of Brainerd; many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Curtis and Maxine Ennen; brother-in-law Bill South; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Terry: 11 AM Saturday (2/24) The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Pine City with a time for family and friends to gather one hour prior to the service at the church. A luncheon is planned following the service. The interment will take place at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Onamia.
