Thomas Peter Schneider

July 14, 1945 — May 22, 2025

Rush City

Thomas Peter Schneider (1945-2025) beloved father and grandfather; gone fishing, no longer bound by earthly shore, now he’s casting his line to something more…

Thomas “Tuly” Peter Schneider, age 79, of Rush City passed away peacefully at Birchwood Medical Center in Forest Lake on May 22nd, 2025.

Tuly was born in Rush City, Minnesota, July 14, 1945, to Henry and Mary (Ordner) Schneider of Rush City. He graduated from Rush City High School then began studying history at Anoka Ramsey Community College. After college he began a lifelong career of public service. His first public service career began by joining the United States Army and serving as a military police officer. After a couple different career paths, he finally joined the Minnesota State Patrol and retired after 20 dedicated years at the Minnesota State Capitol as a security guard. After retirement, his love of public service continued with the City of Rush City. He served first on the planning commission, then Councilman Schneider dedicated the last 10 years of his life making Rush City a better place. He also proudly served as a member of the Pine City Lions and American Legion. His selfless determination will be missed by all.

He loved spending time with family and friends, playing cards, gardening, growing giant pumpkins, putting on fish frys, tubing down the Croix, his grandkids, talking current events and his lifelong love of “fishing”! You always knew where Tuly was, fishing. The St. Croix was one of his favorite spots to fish, from catching giant Sturgeon to huge small mouth bass, also feeding the local eagle population the Redhorse. However, pan fishing was his specialty. From catching huge bluegills on Pokegama and Rush, to ridiculous crappies on Cross and giant Perch on Mille Lacs. Somehow, he always knew where to go. Your customers will be sad. Rest well with the fishing gods Dad…

Thomas is survived by his sons Joshua (Rushess) Schneider of Pine City, Jason Schneider of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware; granddaughters Lilly and Isabella Schneider of Pine City; sisters Barbara (Michael) Pisansky of New Brighton, Catherine Schneider of Depere, Wisconsin; sisters-in-law Sue Schneider of Rush City, Susie Schneider of New Hope; brother-in-law Joe O'Loughlin of Arden Hills; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
